The point I want to make is that the added value of this driver into RIOT, as it is right now, is narrowed to your IPv6 case, which unfortunately is not the main usage for the chip so far. Of course, that's already the case, but I was hoping to make usage of this driver as a generic cc110x driver which can be used for a wide range of applications.
True, the CC1101 is not used for IPv6. Not at all. Shouldn't be this one goal to have IP based networking wherever it is possible? At least for this project? For some use-cases, e.g. LoraWAN, this is of course, not the case. I don't see a problem for the CC1101, except lack of standardization. But this could be a really great selling point though, if there is a well-defined standard for this kind of hardware. But yes, if possible, it would be ideal to have both. Possibility of using IPv6 networking and other networking on top. Where do you see the problem for it?
