I think both. Probably the openocd reset method I've introduced with #11040 doesn't reset the board as much as it should, that's why I'm seeing the timer values too large after reboot.

Anyhow, this fixes the tests in the current state, and I guess noone would be surprised to see the timer reset after init().

I propose we go with this for now.
