Vendor files for stm32f4 are also altered. Check the timer peripheral definition.

I agree that this is bad practice to modify the vendor headers like this. Maybe @haukepetersen could also give his opinion on this since he spent some time on integrating STM32 cpus (and unifying their drivers) in the past.
