@aabadie First I thought about that too, but even though at86rf12b and at86rf215 seem to be rather close in name, they are actually more different than the at86rf12b and at86rf233.
- there is a separate buffer for RX and TX, each 2 kiB in size - frames can be 2 kiB too.
- frame length is in a separate register, not at the start of the framebuffer
- no more automatic retransmissions
- operating states are TX <-> TXPREP <-> RX instead of BUSY_RX <-> RX_ON <-> PLL_ON <-> BUSY_TX
Also at86rf2xx is already littered with `#ifdef`s, shoehorning support for the next generation of ~~Atmel~~ Microchip radios into it would not benefit it's readability.
