Yes, I didn't want to enforce that you could only use the first channel in this mode.

One could imagine setting `TIM_FLAG_RESET_ON_MATCH` on channel 1 and then using channel 0 as a half-way interrupt.

Yea this assumes there is only one user of the timer - but you shouldn't mess with the hardware timer used by e.g. xtimer either.
